Wi-Fi Network Design

At our company, we specialize in Wi-Fi network design, with a strong emphasis on mitigating packet loss to ensure optimal data transmission. Our designs prioritize the efficient configuration of each individual access point, taking into account the number of users and the data requirements within its coverage area. Moreover, we place significant focus on maximizing the utilization of multiple input and multiple output capabilities, as well as delivering higher data rates.

We craft a robust architecture that facilitates a seamless connection across all your devices. Our designs take into consideration various factors such as user capacity, data type, network scalability, and the ideal load for a single access point to maintain balanced and efficient network performance.

Wireless Site Survey

We specialize in conducting comprehensive Wi-Fi site surveys to optimize the placement of access points. Our team of engineers measures crucial site survey parameters such as signal strength and other key data points, which are essential for creating reliable wireless networks. We also identify and recommend the most suitable locations for access point installations, taking into account factors like building materials and layout that can impact wireless performance.

Our services include:

  • High-Density Wi-Fi Survey: This comprehensive survey is tailored for organizations with a large number of users operating multiple devices and critical applications. We ensure that your Wi-Fi networks are optimized for efficient business operations.
  • Wi-Fi Health Assessment: Our engineers conduct a thorough evaluation to guarantee that your Wi-Fi networks are functioning at their optimum levels, thereby enhancing workforce productivity.
  • Predictive Wi-Fi Survey: In situations where a physical site survey may not be feasible, we carry out a full predictive Wi-Fi survey to design the layout effectively.
  • Wi-Fi Performance Verification: This survey is designed to ensure that your Wi-Fi performance and output are appropriate and meet the specific needs of your staff.
  • Wi-Fi Security Audit: In today's rapidly evolving digital landscape, network security is of paramount importance. Our comprehensive security audit ensures that your network is well-protected against potential threats.
  • Outdoor Wi-Fi Survey: For businesses requiring outdoor connectivity, we conduct surveys to guarantee optimal performance for outdoor Wi-Fi usage, taking into account factors such as signal strength and coverage to ensure seamless connectivity.

With our comprehensive range of Wi-Fi survey services, we aim to provide you with reliable and high-performing wireless networks that support your business objectives.

Types of Wireless Site Surveys

  • Predictive Site Surveys: These Wi-Fi site surveys are conducted prior to moving into a new space or deploying a new network setup to determine the optimal placement of Access Points (APs) for best performance across the desired area. Professional tools such as Ekahau, AirMagnet, and Hamina are employed to predict wireless signal propagation by considering detailed blueprints, information about the proposed wireless equipment, selected Wi-Fi standards, and the surrounding environment. These tools assess potential obstacles that could have a negative impact on wireless signal propagation (like walls, cabinets, desks, and other objects) to ensure accurate predictions. An AP on a Stick (APoS) survey could also be included. APoS is a method of temporarily staging APs at deployment height utilizing a tripod or other mounting options to validate the predictive design before a full site deployment..
  • Passive Site Surveys: Passive surveys report on all signals at each location, including the installed network and signals from neighbouring sites or other devices that generate noise at wireless frequencies. These surveys provide data on detected wireless Networks in the given area, APs, their characteristics, signal strength, signal-to-noise ratios, and interference levels.
  • Active Site Surveys: By connecting the Wireless survey software to a particular Network of interest, the active site survey focuses on specific signals and generates an extensive list of measurements for each AP that broadcasts the studied signal. Metrics include signal strength, throughput, round-trip time, packet loss, retransmission rate, and data rates throughout the area. An active site survey may result in recommendations for AP relocation or adding/removing APs.

It is crucial to conduct a wireless site survey instead of relying on rule-of-thumb guidelines for estimating the number and placement of APs. Skipping a survey may result in overspending on unnecessary APs or poor performance due to insufficient APs. Wireless site surveys generate a heat map, a colour-coded representation of signal strength based on AP locations, which aids in informed decisions about AP placement.

At our company, we utilize cutting-edge tools and software for our Wi-Fi site surveys, ensuring precise and accurate results. Our survey tools collect comprehensive data about your wireless environment, including signal strength, network operations, and external noise levels. This enables us to optimally place APs and design networks that maximize efficiency and performance. Our expert team performs regular maintenance and periodic surveys to keep your network running at its peak, adapting to advancements in wireless network technology.

Spectrum Analysis

We analyse Wi-Fi and other wireless signals in your environment, studying radio waves to assess and predict performance. Understanding how Wi-Fi signals operate in your specific environment is crucial for a successful network design and identifying potential performance issues.

Interference Detection

Our services include detecting wireless interference from sources like rogue devices, microwave ovens, radars, etc. By discovering these interference sources, we can help create a seamless and high-performing network.

Basic Components of a Wi-Fi network

  • Access Points (APs): These are crucial components in Wi-Fi network solutions. APs serve as the primary transmitters and receivers of radio frequency signals, thereby facilitating the creation of a wireless local area network (WLAN). They typically transmit data across two frequencies, 2.4GHz and 5GHz (with Wi-Fi 6E allowing for use of a third frequency - 6GHz), catering to different device needs and capacities. APs are generally linked to a network router, allowing for internet connectivity. Some APs even incorporate built-in routing functionalities, making them a versatile component in the wireless network setup.
  • Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs): In more complex networks where numerous APs are deployed, Wireless LAN controllers come into play. They provide centralized control over several APs, allowing network administrators to manage network settings, establish quality of service (QoS) metrics, implement security policies, and coordinate functionalities across a vast number of APs simultaneously. This centralization of control significantly eases network management, especially in large-scale deployments.
  • Client Devices: These are the end-user devices that connect to the APs using built-in or external network radios capable of transmitting and receiving radio frequency waves. These devices range from smartphones, laptops, and tablets to IoT devices and more. Each client device must authenticate itself to gain access to the wireless network, usually via a password or pin. Any client device with unrecognized or potentially harmful intent is referred to as a rogue device, and these require careful monitoring and control within the network to ensure security.
